NYU Communists Join “No Kings Protest,” Calling to “Overthrow Capitalism”
This past weekend, various NYU groups, including NYU Communists partook in the “No Kings” protest across Manhattan. The group distributed communist materials, including a newspaper that called to “overthrow capitalism.”
The newspaper itself featured a headline reading, “The Billionaires Are the Enemy.” Other articles criticized Israel, American capitalism and requested a $5 “solidarity” donation. One specifically mentioned “Israel’s war on the truth,” reflecting left-wing anti-Israel sentiments.

With ties to the Revolutionary Communists of America, the group has expressed support for Karl Marx and Marxism. In a social media post, the NYU Communists said “Comrades from the NYU branch organized a communist contingent for the No Kings rally in Manhattan today to connect with the radicalized workers and youth that are sick of the exploitation of capitalism, and are ready to fight back.”

Despite the use of NYU’s name, university spokesperson, John Beckman, has clarified that there is no university recognized student group called “NYU Communists.”
